YOUR RECIPES: ALL KAINZ OF CAROFYNE

tequila switchel cocktail

We co-hosted a Thai themed dinner party with a group of incredible young professional DC women.  We asked the group for help creating the perfect Thai inspired cocktail using The Nashville Switchel.  Cheers to Emma Kainz and Carolyn Vassallo, who came up with this summery and spicy twist on the margarita.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 & 1/2 oz red chili infused tequila or vodka (we soaked 15 red chilies with seeds in Tequila El Espolòn Reposado)

  • 3 oz The Nashville

  • 1/2 oz pomegranate juice

  • 4 Thai basil leaves

FOR THE SWEET AND SALTY RIM

  • 1 tbsp salt

  • 1 tbsp palm sugar

  • 1 tbsp cayenne pepper

  • 1/2 tbsp cinnamon

Combine all liquid ingredients, three Thai basil leaves, and ice in a cocktail shaker and shake for 15 seconds.   Separately, mix salt, sugar, and cayenne pepper and spread evenly onto a small plate.  Dip the rim of a glass in The Nashville and then into the spice mixture.  Garish with Thai basil.
